Veteran motorsports journalist Holly Cain has been named as the second quarter recipient of the National Motorsports Press Association. Spirit Award.
The award, according to an NMPA media release, “is designed to recognize character and achievement in the face of adversity, sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports.”
Cain was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2014.
“Cain has shown great courage and tremendously positive attitude while engaged in a difficult battle,” the NMPA said. “She has been a long-time supporter of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and has entered many 5K ‘Race for a Cure’ events in honor and memory of friends suffering from breast cancer.”
Cain is celebrating her third anniversary of working for NASCAR.com. She was selected on 66 percent of ballots cast by NMPA membership.
