Many Sprint Cup teams are giving their cars retro paint schemes for the Sept. 6 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, which airs on NBC.

The Wood Brothers could have take the easy route and kept their normal paint job for the No. 21 Snap-0n Ford, which will be driven by Ryan Blaney.

Instead, the team revealed a paint scheme Tuesday that features a mosaic of the team’s 65-year history in NASCAR. That history includes eight wins at Darlington, which will host a race on Labor Day weekend for the first time since 2003.

The mosaic is made up of more than 2,000 pictures dating back to 1950.

“I’ve seen drawings of the car but to see it in real life, I think it looks great,” Blaney said in a release. “Just to get to drive the No. 21 for the Wood Brothers is an honor. So to run a car that honors their history in the sport and what they’ve accomplished over the years is even more special. With Darlington trying to do a retro, throwback feel to their race and Snap-on stepping up and allowing us to run this scheme, I think it will be one of the fan favorite cars out there.”

The paint scheme joins the ranks of those belonging to Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Austin Dillon.
