Brad Keselowski shares fear of losing newborn daughter in blog post

Up until now Sprint Cup driver Brad Keselowski had not revealed much about his daughter, who was born in the early morning hours of May 20.

The 2012 Sprint Cup champion finally introduced Scarlett to the world Wednesday in a personal and dramatic blog post.

In the blog, titled “A Win for Scarlett,” Keselowski writes about a period of time following the June 14 race at Michigan where he and girlfriend Paige White feared they might lose the infant to laryngomalacia, “a weakness in the muscles of the throat that’s fairly common in infants, though it’s rarely as severe as Scarlett’s case was.”

The baby is fine now after surgery, but Keselowski describes the initial hours of Scarlett’s illness as “among the worst in my life and Paige’s.”

In early July NASCAR Talk’s Dustin Long profiled Keselowski for NBC’s Sports World. In the piece Keselowski said one of his two life goals was to have a “healthy, happy family that puts me in a position where I can grow each and every day.”
