After announcing that Gray Gaulding would pilot the No. 54 Truck in three races later this year, Kyle Busch Motorsport has revealed Cody Coughlin will be in the seat for one race.

Coughlin, 19, will compete in the Aug. 15 race at Michigan International Speedway. It will be his second Camping World Truck Series race of the year and his career.

He first ran at Kentucky in the No. 25 truck for Venturini Motorsports and finished 20th. That came after the Delaware, Ohio, native had never run a lap at the track and rain canceled practice and qualifying.

“Kyle Busch Motorsports is on top of the game in the Truck Series,” Coughlin said in a team release. “It’s an honor to be able to race for this team. Kyle has helped me with some knowledge of some tracks this year and that has really helped me. I think this is a great opportunity and I’m expecting a great run.”

Coughlin, a Joe Gibbs Racing development driver, has run in 17 ARCA races in the last two years and has earned two poles. He also won the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship in 2013, and has won races at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway and Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway.

“Joe Gibbs Racing has called upon us the last few seasons to put a few of their young drivers in our trucks and help with their development,” said Kyle Busch in the release. “This year the extra seat time that Daniel (Suarez) has received by running our trucks has really seemed to help speed up his learning curve in the Xfinity Series. Cody’s another one of their young guys and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to work with him.”

After Coughlin’s race, the No. 54 will be driven by Gaulding at Aug. 30 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Sept. 26 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Oct. 31 at Martinsville Speedway.
