Bristol Motor Speedway is preparing for a “blackout” prior to the Aug. 22 IRWIN Tools Night Race, but it has nothing to do with the track losing electricity.

Rather, Bristol officials are asking fans attending the race to wear their favorite NASCAR driver’s t-shirt in black.

But that’s not all: Bristol’s famous walls will be painted black and there will be a fleet of all-black Chevrolet Midnight Silverado Special Edition trucks to ferry drivers around the half-mile bull-ring during introductions before the race.

Additional 2015 Silverado 2500 HD’s will provide the horsepower to operate the track’s tram service.

If you don’t have an all-black t-shirt of your favorite NASCAR driver, don’t fret. There will be a limited number of free Chevy tees to be given out at the track’s display lot. Additional shirts will be available for sale.

Chevy also is sponsoring a contest where fans can win race tickets, as well as a chance to drive a Sprint Cup driver around the track during parade laps. Other winners will be able to ride inside the truck while it makes its way around the track.

Enter the contest at BristolBlackout.com.
