Biffle shows he still has some gas left to make the Chase

In a race that saw several key drivers run out of gas in the final laps of Sunday’s Windows 10 400 at Pocono, Greg Biffle showed he still has some fuel left in his tank to potentially make this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Biffle finished fifth in the wild race, only his second top-five showing this season (and both coming in fuel-mileage outcomes). He finished a season-best second in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“We needed all those guys in front of us to run out of gas and have a good run and get a win there, but it didn’t happen today,” said Biffle, who started from the 25th position. “We will keep working at it.”

Biffle remains in 18th place in the Sprint Cup standings, 51 points out of the 16th and final Chase qualifying spot.

With five races remaining to make the Chase, Biffle isn’t giving up hope that he can still make NASCAR’s marquee event – and knows what he has work to do.

“We need a win to get in the Chase, we won’t get in on points,” he acknowledged. “We will have to get in on a win.”
