LONG POND, Pa. - A male was uninjured after he was clipped by Jimmie Johnson’s car in the garage area during Saturday morning’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup practice at Pocono Raceway.
A Hendrick Motorsports spokesperson said that Johnson described the incident as a “scary moment.’’ The Hendrick spokesperson also said that Johnson was shaken after the incident.
The person hit had a hard card credential - given to those who regularly work in the garage area. He got up quickly and told Johnson he was uninjured.
NASCAR was made aware of the incident.
“We are always looking at maintaining a safe environment, both on and around the track and in the garage area,’’ NASCAR spokesperson Kerry Tharp said. “We’ve been made aware of this incident. We’re certainly glad that everybody is OK. Obviously safety of our drivers, teams, crews and fans is top priority.’’
