Things got a bit heated for Alex Bowman in Sunday’s 5-Hour Energy 301 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
On Lap 97, Bowman came onto pit road to change a flat tire. The right front tire caught as Bowman’s car came to a stop. His team replaced the tire, but as Bowman pulled out of his pit stall, fire erupted once again in the same general area.
Bowman stopped his car at the exit of pit road and climbed out as fire began to consume the entire front end and engine compartment.
Bowman was uninjured. His car, well, wasn’t quite as fortunate.
