In a sitdown with NBCSN’s Marty Snider, Austin Dillon, his father, Mike, and grandfather and team owner Richard Childress share their recollections of Dillon’s harrowing wreck after the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
Childress, whose driver Dale Earnhardt was killed on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 in a No. 3 Chevrolet, said “the worst hits you at that point.”
Austin Dillon explains why his Lane Frost cowboy tribute seemed appropriate after crawling from the wreckage, and Mike Dillon said it was still “a pretty daggone good day” to watch his son walk away.
