Brad Keselowski admits he’s “kind of embarrassed” that he struck Austin Dillon’s car as it sat on its roof after crashing into the catch fence Monday at Daytona International Speedway.

Keselowski slid through the crash scene and broadsided Dillon’s car. Dillon said after the accident that Keselowski told him that he ran through oil and could not avoid hitting Dillon’s car.

“There was just so much debris that even being as far behind as I was, you couldn’t slow down from 200 mph,’' Keselowski said Thursday at Kentucky Speedway. “That was frustrating. I felt very, very lucky when I got out of my car and went to Austin and saw that he was OK. Those are the thoughts that stick out to me the most. Not a good deal.’'

Keselowski said his concern rose because his impact followed Dillon’s devastating crash into the fence.

“Racecars are very, very well designed and built for high impacts,’' Keselowski said. “They’re not ever going to be very well designed for multiple high impacts. When I hit Austin the second time, I saw his first impact and I knew when I was going to hit him the second time his odds were a lot lower walking away. Thankfully he did.’'
