Alex Bowman is set to return to Tommy Baldwin Racing in the Sprint Cup Series in 2016.

TBR picked up the option on Bowman, 22, last week.

Bowman told SiriusXM NASCAR Sunday morning the option is just for the 2016 season.

“Obviously, we have a lot of good things going on for the future,” team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. told Motorsport.com. “We picked up his option last week. We’re real excited about what we have going on with TBR right now. We figured if we got Alex locked down and then we can work on all the necessary tools to keep climbing up the ladder.”

Bowman is in his second season in the Sprint Cup Series after spending his rooking season with BK Racing.

Through 14 races this year - he failed to qualify for the Daytona 500 - Bowman is 33rd in points and has an average finish of 30.2. His best finish was 16th at Talladega Superspeedway.
