Kasey Kahne told ESPN that his girlfriend, Sam Sheets, is pregnant and due to deliver a baby boy Oct. 10.
It will be Kahne’s first child.
“I’m really excited to have this type of life-changing experience, and I can’t wait to be the best dad I can possibly be,’' Kahne told ESPN
Kahne joins a growing list of first-time fathers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch became fathers in May. Trevor Bayne’s wife is due to deliver the couple’s first child later this year. Kyle Larson became a father in December when his girlfriend delivered a boy.
“I’ve always really wanted a kid. Absolutely,” Kahne told ESPN. “When I was growing up, I thought I’d have kids by the time I was 25. We’re 10 years past that now, of course. But once we found out, I realized how badly I wanted kids.’'
