A tire test with three Sprint Cup teams has been scheduled for June 30 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, Goodyear confirmed Tuesday.

The session will include Brad Keselowski’s Ford, Tony Stewart’s Chevrolet and Matt Kenseth’s Toyota.

This will be the second Goodyear test at Darlington in three weeks. NASCAR held a two-day test at the 1.366-mile oval on June 9-10 with the first day devoted to testing tires for the Southern 500 on Sept. 5.

It’s common for Goodyear to hold “confirmation” tests in the weeks leading into a race to select a tire, but it’s unusual for multiple sessions to be conducted.

The test is unrelated to the July 11 race at Kentucky Speedway, which will feature the debut of a lower-downforce rules package that NASCAR is trying in the hopes of increasing lead changes. NASCAR hasn’t committed to the change beyond Kentucky, but executive vice president and chief racing development officer Steve O’Donnell hinted Monday that another race-specific rules package could be rolled out prior to the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

The Southern 500 will mark the penultimate race of the 26-race regular season before the 2015 Chase begins two weeks later at Chicagoland Speedway.
