NFL star Rob Gronkowski’s family puts hilarious spin on Father’s Day at NASCAR’s Chicagoland Speedway

When a father starts an interview calling his five sons “knuckleheads” on Father’s Day weekend, you know things are going to get crazier from that point on.

That’s what happened at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday when the Gronkowski clan – father Gordon and the quintet of male offspring, namely Rob, Glenn, Chris, Dan and Gordie Jr. – took the stage in the infield media center.

While the clan was there to promote worthy causes including Rob Gronkowski’s foundation and some of the charities he and the rest of the family is involved in, it also gave the brothers a chance to get together – which these days is a rarity with their being scattered around the country.

“We have a blast,” said Rob, tight end for the New England Patriots. “Whatever is going on in life, we have so much fun. We never get together for holidays, so this is like a holiday for us.”

Rob brought his father and brothers together at Chicagoland Speedway not only for a reunion, but to also watch him attend to his duties as grand marshal of the Xfinity Series race on Sunday (rescheduled from Saturday night’s rainout).

While Rob is known for his oftentimes wild and crazy antics, Glenn, the youngest Gronkowski brother, stole the show during Saturday’s media session with a LOUD and emotional rant about playing college football at Kansas State.

While Glenn, a fullback, hopes to follow older sibling Rob to the NFL, if that doesn’t pan out, the youngest G-man definitely has a future in the WWE (click here to hear the whole family interview, including Glenn’s diatribe).

“Growing up, it was hard, because I was the youngest, I had the smallest piece,” Glenn said, starting off slowly before quickly ratcheting up the rhetoric – and the volume.

“My dad was there the whole way, he got me a college scholarship to K-State,” said Glenn, who is also an academic All-American. “Arizona would not offer me! Even though my two brothers went there! I would have went there and killed it!

“But you know what, I went to K-State. I’m Big 12 first team now (and also academic All-American). Whatcha gonna say about that?”

Ironically, father Gordon and four of his sons will be featured Sunday on an edition of the syndicated TV show Family Feud, which was taped earlier in the month. There’s no word on how Family Gronkowski fared.

“We’re all best friends and we all act the same,” Dan Gronkowski said, then paused, smirked and clarified that statement a bit more by adding, “Well, not always.”
