NASCAR announced warnings Wednesday to four Sprint Cup teams for not getting through inspection in the proper amount of time last weekend at Michigan International Speedway.
NASCAR cited Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s team for needing to go through pre-race inspection more than twice before passing. This is the second time since early May that Earnhardt’s team has received a warning for this. His team was cited for that at Kansas Speedway.
If a team receives six warnings during a six-month period from the time of the first warning, it may result in a P2 penalty. That could include the loss of 10 points, a fine between $10,000 and $25,000 and the suspension of the crew chief and/or any other crew members for one or more races.
NASCAR also issued warnings to the teams of Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Josh Wise for needing to go through pre-qualifying inspection more than twice before passing.
If any of the four teams receive a warning at the next event (Sonoma), then they would receive a P1 penalty, which could include last choice of pit stalls, reduction of practice time, reduction of qualifying time, delay in order of inspection or be selected for post-race inspection.
