After three race stoppages due to rain, the Quicken Loans 400 race has reached the halfway point at Michigan International Speedway.
Kevin Harvick is in the lead, followed by Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kurt Busch.
Persistent rain brought out red flag race stoppages at Laps 13, 19 and 45 (which followed a scheduled competition caution at Lap 40).
Only 22 of the first 52 laps were run under green flag conditions.
Harvick has led the most laps (44), while Edwards has led 40 laps of the scheduled 200-lap event.
If more rain returns, the race is now considered an official race (one lap past midway, namely, 101 laps). But the track is now basking in sunlight and it appears the full race will be completed before any additional rain potentially arrives.
On Lap 53, Kyle Busch lost control of his Toyota Camry and slammed into the outside retaining wall, bringing out another caution.
Busch said over his team radio that there were rain drops on his windshield at the time of the wreck, which potentially may have contributed to the incident.
Harvick also said he saw rain and that the restart on Lap 53 may have been premature.
