Promoting the July 1 premiere of Terminator Genisys, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the honorary pace car driver for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sprint Cup race June 28 at Sonoma Raceway.
Schwarzenegger, who was California’s governor from 2003 - 2011, will drive a 2016 Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle that emits only water from its exhaust. While in office, Schwarzenegger championed and established California’s Hydrogen Highway, the nation’s first network of hydrogen fueling stations.
“I can’t wait to drive the pace car at Sonoma,” Schwarzenegger said in a release. “It will be an honor to lead these fantastic athletes and champions around the raceway, and on top of it, I get to drive a car that is both powerful and green.”
This is the first time Schwarzenegger has driven a pace car in the Sprint Cup event.
