Kyle Larson is returning to his roots tonight.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he would be competing in a World of Outlaws event at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind.

Larson will be racing a sprint car owned by Keith Kunz. Kokomo Speedway is a 1/4 mile semi-banked clay oval about 60 miles north of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Larson came up through dirt racing and has stayed in touch with the form. This past offseason, Ganassi allowed him to participate in multiple dirt races prior to the start of the Sprint Cup season. In early January, Larson won the A-Main on Night 2 of the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown at Cocopah (Ariz.) Speedway.

Two weeks later, he finished seventh in the final of the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Okla. To top it off he also participated in, and won, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

“I don’t know how I handle it,” Larson told MotorSportsTalk in January. “I’ve done it the last few years, so you’re racing every week. It’s not hard to go from Arizona to here (Florida) to racing a different car. You just get used to it.”

If you’re in the area and want to watch Larson play in the dirt, hot laps begin at 6:30 p.m. ET
