With 69 Sprint Cup and 151 Xfinity Series starts, it’s hard to imagine that Trevor Bayne has never raced at Pocono Raceway — but it’s true.
As preparation for his first Cup start there in the June 7th Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400, it was announced Tuesday that Bayne will make his first-ever start at the Tricky Triangle one day earlier in the ARCA Series’ Pocono 200 on June 6.
Bayne will drive the Cunningham Motorsports No. 22 Ford Fusion on the 2.5-mile racetrack, carrying the same sponsor on Bayne’s Cup ride, AdvoCare.
Cunningham Motorsports is a driver development team on the ARCA Series for Roush Fenway Racing. Paul Andrews, who led the late Alan Kulwicki to the Sprint Cup championship in 1992, will serve as Bayne’s crew chief.
“We are excited to have the chance to race with a Daytona 500 winner,” said Cunningham co-owner, Kerry Scherer. “We also appreciate the confidence Roush Fenway has shown in us to give Trevor the equipment and support to win the race.”
