Kurt Busch wins fourth segment of Sprint All-Star Race, setting up 10-lap final shootout

Kurt Busch bided his time in the first three of five segments in Friday’s Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

But when it became “go time” in the fourth segment, Busch roared toward the front right from the green flag, going from fourth place to second, right behind leader Denny Hamlin, in just over one lap.

One lap later, Busch passed Hamlin for the lead and began to pull away. Busch would ultimately go on to lead the final 23 laps and win the fourth segment.

That puts Busch in good position to win in the final 10-lap shootout, which will determine the event winner and who goes home with the $1 million first prize.

Kevin Harvick finished second in the fourth segment, followed by Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Kasey Kahne.

Joey Logano was trying to pull even with Kevin Harvick, but got loose and clipped the wall on Lap 3. As a result, Logano promptly dropped from sixth to 16th -- where he finished the segment -- even though the right rear damage to his Ford did not appear overly extensive.
