Daughter No. 6 arrives for Eric McClure on day he changes Xfinity teams

Hours after the birth of Eric McClure’s sixth daughter, JGL Racing announced that it has parted ways with the Xfinity Series driver.

“I have a lot of respect for Eric and his family and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues his racing career with TriStar Motorsports,” said James Whitener, owner of JGL Racing in a statement. “We have a vision of what we want to build with this race team and it just wasn’t working out with Eric for the direction that we wanted to go. We are committed to the continued growth of JGL Racing and will do everything in our powers to progress that forward.”

JGL Racing, TriStar Motorsports and Team McClure have worked out an agreement for McClure to continue using the No. 24 with TriStar. JGL Racing will field a No. 26 car instead the rest of the season. JGL Racing also will continue to field a third entry (No. 93 car) in select events.

The team plans to fill McClure’s vacancy with “several drivers” it stated in a media release. The Xfinity Series is off this weekend. The next race for the series is May 17 at Iowa Speedway.

McClure is 22nd in the points standings after placing 21st last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. McClure’s sixth child’s name is Meraline Everleigh. McClure’s other daughters are Mabreigh, Maryleigh, Mirabella, Merritt and Myanna.
