When NASCAR fans vote for the Sprint Fan Vote leading up to the All-Star Weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, they have an opportunity to help send children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses to Victory Junction camp.
As a result of a partnership between Richard Petty Motorsports and Shop.com, all votes placed for RPM driver Sam Hornish Jr., will result in the website donating $5 to the camp that was founded in Randleman, N.C., in honor Kyle Petty’s son, the late-Adam Petty.
Fans can vote once a day at nascar.com/sprintfanvote or with the NASCAR Mobile app until 7 p.m. ET on Friday, May 15, immediately prior to the Sprint Showdown. If you share your vote on Twitter or Facebook, the vote will count twice and a donation of $10 donation will be made to the camp up to $25,000.
“I’m excited that I have the opportunity to achieve two goals during the All-Star weekend,” said Hornish in a release. “The most important achievement for the weekend is to send children to Victory Junction. It’s inspirational for me every time I get to visit the camp, and I’m honored to be a part of something that is helping others. Any time that you can achieve your goal, and it affects others’ lives with a positive impact, it’s remarkable. It’s amazing how you get to live out your dream, and through those accomplishments, others can benefit. It’s not something that’s just in-the-moment, but you can see the benefits for years to come.”
SHOP.COM and Victory Junction will be co-primary sponsors on Hornish’s No. 9 Ford for all of the Sprint All-Star weekend.
The winner of the Sprint Fan Vote will be announced in Victory Lane following the conclusion of the All-Star qualifying race, the Sprint Showdown, on Friday, May 15. The Sprint All-Star Race will be ran on May 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
