Brett Moffitt will be back in a NASCAR Sprint Cup car next week at Kansas Speedway, a team spokesperson confirmed to NASCAR Talk Wednesday.

The Des Moines Register first reported that Moffitt, who is under contract to Michael Waltrip Racing, confirmed in a text message that he’ll drive the No. 34 car for Front Row Motorsports at Kansas. The move is part of a driver shuffle that continues with the absence of Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers in their rides.

Moffitt drove for Front Row Motorsports at Las Vegas (finished 37th) and Phoenix (32nd). Moffitt returned to the No. 55 ride for MWR after Vickers suffered a recurrence of blood clots last month before the race at Auto Club Speedway.

Moffitt drove in place of Vickers at Atlanta while Vickers completed recovery from offseason heart surgery. Moffitt finished eighth in that race. He then drove two races for Front Row Motorsports before returning to MWR. He drove the No. 55 car at Auto Club (22nd), Martinsville (28th), Texas (29th), Bristol (17th) and Richmond (29th). Michael Waltrip is in the No. 55 car this weekend at Talladega.

The driver switch continues with MWR announcing this week that David Ragan would drive the No. 55 car the rest of the season beginning at Kansas, leaving Moffitt without a ride. Ragan has been driving the No. 18 for Busch, who was injured in the season-opening Xfinity race at Daytona. Joe Gibbs Racing is expected to announce that Erik Jones will drive the No. 18 car starting at Kansas.

Chris Buescher will drive for Front Row Motorsports this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
