Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway has been chosen “My Favorite Track” for the fourth consecutive year by the readers of National Speed Sport News and Speed Sport Magazine.

Balloting was held in February and early March with the half-mile dirt oval near Rossburg, Ohio, once again reigning supreme.

It received 22.8 percent of the vote, up from 19.4 percent in last year’s balloting.

The half-mile clay oval was built in 1954 by Earl Baltes, who passed away March 23 at the age of 93. Stewart bought the track from Baltes in 2004.

“It is again an honor for our entire team to have the fans vote Eldora as their favorite track in the country,” general manager Roger Slack said in a media release. “We remain committed to the foundation and vision of (former owners) Earl and Berneice Baltes and fulfilling their dreams of building Eldora into everything they hoped it could become.”

Virginia International Raceway was chosen by fans and readers as the No. 2 most popular track at 16.02 percent, followed by Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, site of the famed Knoxville Nationals dirt track event.

Only three of the tracks in the top 10 hold NASCAR events: Eldora, which hosts the Mud Summer Classic on the Camping World Truck Series; Road America, which hosts an Xfinity Series race; and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which hosts the Brickyard 400 in late July.
