MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Car owner Felix Sabates provided more detail on Kyle Larson’s status in an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio before Sunday’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

“Nobody thinks it’s anything serious because his blood pressure has been pretty normal,’’ said Sabates, who holds a minority interest in Chip Ganassi Racing. “But they are checking the heart area. That’s where they’re looking at.’’

Sabates said he was at the Carolinas Medical Center - Sabates is on the board of directors at the Charlotte, N.C., facility - with Larson Sunday morning and arranged for a cardiologist to examine Larson. Sabates said Larson also had undergone an MRI and CT scan, among other tests. Three doctors saw Larson Sunday morning, Sabates said.

“He was in good spirits,’’ Sabates told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Larson fainted while at an autograph session Saturday at Martinsville Speedway. He was taken to the infield care center and transported to Martinsville Memorial Hospital. Doctors there felt he should be evaluated by a neurologist. Because that hospital did not have one available, Larson went to Carolinas Medical Center.

Regan Smith drove for Larson in Sunday’s race.
