We all know what kind of cars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and others drive on a racetrack.
But next month at Charlotte Motor Speedway, you can see some of the cars NASCAR’s biggest names drive on streets and highways.
The AutoFair at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which will run from April 9-12, will feature a dozen drivers’ cars, including those of Junior, Gordon, Kyle and Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer, Joey Logano, David Ragan and Ben Kennedy.
The cars will be featured in CMS’s Nationwide Showcase Pavilion.
Logano and the other NASCAR stars won’t be at the AutoFair – they’ll be in Texas for that weekend’s Sprint Cup race. Logano’s car at Charlotte will be a modified 1939 GMC pickup truck known as “Rat Rod.”
“I’m pretty excited for everyone to be able to enjoy my Rat Rod at the AutoFair,” Logano said in a media release. “It’s just too bad I won’t be able to be there to enjoy all the cool cars they have at the speedway. It’s probably one of the coolest events they have all year long.
“I definitely grew up with an appreciation of old and classic cars and it’s something I still really follow closely today. I’m always looking for something else to add to my collection.”
Earnhardt will display his bright yellow 2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R, a street version of the car he and his father drove together in the 2001 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Other cars on display will include Kyle Busch’s 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Coupe, Gordon’s 1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 (in photo above), Kurt Busch’s 1932 Ford Roadster, Bowyer’s 1979 Peterbilt 389 pickup truck, Ragan’s 1938 Ford UPS package car and Kennedy’s Verrado Electric Drift Trike, a tricycle with slick rear wheels for drifting.
More than 100,000 visitors are expected to visit AutoFair. Admission is $10 for adults and kids 13 and under are free with a paying adult.
