Martin Truex Jr. leads Auto Club 400 at midway point, Denny Hamlin lap leader

Martin Truex Jr. led at the halfway point (after 100 laps) of Sunday’s Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway.

Truex Jr. took the lead, his first of the race, during pit stops under a caution caused by a Sam Hornish Jr. and Trevor Bayne incident on lap 99.

The top 10 at halfway were Truex Jr., Tony Stewart, pole-sitter Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski and Paul Menard.

Hamlin has led the most laps so far with 56. His Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Matt Kenseth, has led 12 laps.

Kevin Harvick, in his attempt to sweep the Sprint Cup’s “West Cost swing” has led 19 laps after Busch led the race’s opening five laps.

Including the Lap 99 incident, there have been three cautions so far. The first on Lap 24 for a David Ragan spin in Turn 4 and the second on Lap 88 for debris.
