Country music singer Dwight Yoakam will be the honorary starter for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway.

Among celebrities who have been the honorary starter for a Cup race at the Fontana, Calif., track are: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hilary Duff, Molly Ringwald, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Olympian Bode Miller.

Yoakam, who has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, will wave the green flag for Sunday’s Auto Club 400.

Other celebrities scheduled to be a part of pre-race ceremonies are actor Eric Stonestreet from “Modern Family” and Latin Grammy-nominated musical artist El Dasa. Stonestreet will drive the pace car at the start of the race.

At least one driver is excited bout Yoakam’s appearance.
