Kevin Harvick led Sundays’ Kobalt Tools 400 on lap 150 of 267 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The reigning series champion, who led 40 laps in the event’s first half, retook first from Martin Truex Jr., who had seized the lead on a lap 146 restart.

Harvick had moved into first just past the halfway mark on Lap 141 by passing Joey Logano, who made a stop after being out of sequence with most of the field on pit stops. The caution flag flew immediately after Logano pitted.

Logano led 40 of the first 42 laps after pole-sitter Jeff Gordon dropped to the rear after starting in a backup car.

Jimmie Johnson took the lead on the 43rd lap. Seeking his second straight victory after winning last week at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the six-time series champion led 45 laps before making an unscheduled pit stop under green for a loose wheel.

Other leaders during the first half of the race were Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Matt Kenseth.
