Jimmie Johnson completed his sweep of both NASCAR Sprint Cup practice sessions Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon didn’t have as good of fortune.
Gordon, who was to have started on the pole, will go to the rear of the field Sunday after going to a backup car. He made the move after his primary car was damaged in the final moments of the session after Danica Patrick spun.
David Ragan, driving for the injured Kyle Busch, hit the Turn 2 wall late in the session and his Joe Gibbs Racing team rolled out a backup car.
