Big wreck brings out red flag 20 laps from finish at Atlanta

ATL

A second major multi-car wreck has occurred in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The wreck began on Lap 305 – 20 laps from the end of the scheduled 325-lap event – when Joe Nemechek and Greg Biffle got together.

In the ensuing mayhem, several other drivers were involved including Regan Smith, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Larson and Sam Hornish Jr.

The resulting mayhem brought out a red flag full race stoppage as crews attempted to clear the track of debris.

Jimmie Johnson is being scored as the leader, with Matt Kenseth running second, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick.
