DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For a driver whose job revolves around speed, Kasey Kahne got the ride of his life Wednesday morning.

Kahne rode with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, who will provide the flyover before Sunday’s Daytona 500.

Kahne said he experienced about 7 Gs on his ride but that wasn’t what stood out the most.

“We did one thing where we saw negative Gs and I felt like my eyeballs were coming out of my head,’’ Kahne told NASCAR Talk.

No, Kahne did not pass out on his ride.

“He probably could have made me do anything he wanted,’’ Kahne said of the pilot. “But he didn’t. He was nice.’’

The moment that took Kahne’s breath away? It came at the start.

“We were running about 20 feet above the runway and got up to about 550 mph and went straight up and that was 6.5 Gs,’’ he said. “We did a twist and went to flat, and I had no idea where we were.’’

The ride checked off an item on Kahne’s bucket list.

“It was just an unreal experience,’’ he said. “Until you actually do it and put your body through it and feel the way it makes you feel, you have no clue what you’re getting yourself into.’’

Yes, Kahne said he would do this again if given the chance.
