Former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the 57th Daytona 500 on Feb. 22, Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III announced Friday.

Since winning Season 11 of American Idol in 2012, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter has released a pair of platinum-selling albums: His 2012 debut, The World From the Side of the Moon, and his 2014 follow-up, Behind The Light.

The World From the Side of the Moon spawned Phillips’ first multi-platinum single, “Home.” Behind The Light featured another platinum single, “Raging Fire.”

Phillips has toured extensively in support of both albums with the likes of Matchbox Twenty, John Mayer, O.A.R. and shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen at Brazil’s 2013 Rock in Rio festival.

“Phillip is a talented singer, guitarist and songwriter,” Chitwood said in a media release. “We are looking forward to his rendition of the National Anthem in front of thousands of race fans and millions more watching on FOX.”

This will not be Phillips’ first NASCAR-related appearance. He also performed during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards in Las Vegas.
