Matt Tifft will receive a one-off start for Venturini Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
An Ohio native and freshman at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, Tifft was originally scheduled to do just six Truck races in 2015, sharing a ride for Joe Gibbs Racing with Kyle Busch and Daniel Suarez.
But a joint technical alliance between Venturini Motorsports and Kyle Busch Motorsports will allow Tifft to compete in the NextEra Energy 250 on Feb. 20 in Tifft’s first-ever racing experience at DIS.
Tifft will drive the No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota Tundra, which will carry a paint scheme celebrating the 30th anniversary of primary sponsor Federated Auto Parts.
Tifft has three prior Truck series starts, with a career-best eighth-place finish at Martinsville last season.
“Last year we had a few good runs but it was mostly about gaining experience and getting comfortable in the truck,” Tifft said in a team media release. “This will be my first restrictor plate race so I need to be smart with my strategy and adapt to the style of racing.”
