This offseason, Kyle Larson has gone sprint car racing, become a father, and won the Rolex 24 at Daytona. But he had one more momentous occasion this afternoon.
As his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season approaches, Larson today peeled off the yellow rookie stripe from the back bumper of his No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet.

Larson ran away with Cup rookie of the year honors in 2014 after collecting eight top-5 and 17 top-10 finishes. But he wants much more in 2015.
“This year, I think we’re capable of being a Top-10 car each week and win at least two races and make the Chase and go for a championship,” Larson said during last month’s NASCAR media tour in Charlotte. “Those are pretty realistic goals, because had I had one less DNF last year, I would’ve finished sixth or eighth in points, which is really good.
“So, I think we can be better this year and possibly go for a championship - [or] at least [make] the final round at Homestead, that would be nice.”
