Brendan Gaughan will drive in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Premium Motorsports beginning with the March 1 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the team announced Tuesday.

Gaughan’s Xfinity Series teammate at Richard Childress Racing, Brian Scott, will drive the No. 62 Premium Motorsports car for the Daytona 500.

Gaughan has 42 career Cup starts. His most recent Cup start was in Aug. 2013 at Michigan when he finished 33rd. He finished eight in the Xfinity standings last season, scoring wins at Road America and Kentucky.

A spokesperson for Premium Motorsports said that the plan for now is that Gaughan will run all the Cup races after Daytona even if the Cup and Xfinity Series are racing at different venues on the same weekend.
