Start time for Sunday’s Cup race moved up to 1 p.m. ET

BRISTOL, Tenn. - NASCAR announced that the start for Sunday’s Food City 500 Cup race has been moved up an hour to 1 p.m. ET because of the threat of rain.

NASCAR can move the start time up an hour a day before an event. Rain is in the forecast for much of Sunday. The wunderground.com forecast calls for an 82 percent chance of rain at 1 p.m. ET for the Bristol area. The chance of rain does not drop below 80 percent until 7 p.m. ET when it dips to 57 percent.

Gates will open at 9:45 a.m. ET. The driver/crew meeting will be at 11 a.m. ET.

Fox’s prerace show begins at 12:30 p.m. ET. Performance Racing Network’s prerace show on the radio begins at noon ET.
