Stewart-Haas Racing leads way in Texas Cup practice

Kurt Busch posted a lap at 196.200 mph to lead the way in Friday’s Cup practice at Texas Motor Speedway, as Stewart-Haas Racing drivers took the top three spots.

“It’s just a fun track to attack in qualifying mode,’' Busch told Fox Sports 1. “Coming back from an off week, we just want to go hard.”

Stewart-Haas Racing also was second in the practice with Kevin Harvick (195.943 mph) and third with Clint Bowyer (195.426). Kyle Busch (195.009) and Ryan Blaney (194.883) completed the top five in the session.

Joey Logano ran the most laps at 19. He was 16th on the speed chart with a top lap of 193.757 mph.

William Byron’s team is making an engine change, and he will have to start Sunday’s race from the back of the field.
