Daniel Suarez leads Friday’s first Cup practice at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida -- Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Suarez and Denny Hamlin posted the top two speeds in first of two Cup practices Friday at Daytona International Speedway.

Suarez led the way with a lap of 199.840 mph. Hamlin’s top lap was 199.743 mph. They were followed by Martin Truex Jr. (199.694 mph), David Ragan (199.650) and Danica Patrick (199.406). Rookie Darrell Wallace was sixth on the speed chart with a lap of 199.397 mph.

Kyle Busch ran the most laps in the session at 28. Hamlin ran 27 and Kyle Larson ran 25 laps.

There were no incidents in the session.
