Ryan Blaney tops Cup practice at Michigan with lap of 203 mph

Kyle Busch clipped the wall during practice at Michigan for the Pure Michigan 400.

Ryan Blaney topped Friday’s only Monster Energy Cup Series practice session at Michigan International Speedway.

Blaney and his No. 21 Ford posted a top speed of 203.591 mph. Blaney, who recorded 14 laps in the session, was the only driver to top 203 mph.

Blaney was followed by Kyle Busch (202.327 mph), Denny Hamlin (201.935), Martin Truex Jr. (201.856) and Brad Keselowski (201.805).

Busch’s team will make repairs to the No. 18 Toyota after he got into the wall as he exited Turn 2 with just under 15 minutes left in the session.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was 17th fastest (199.440), recorded the most laps in the session with 27.
