It was not a good night for Hendrick Motorsports in Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway -- primarily due to drivers being involved in wrecks, not necessarily of their own doing:
- Polesitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. was collected in a wreck and finished 32nd in what was his final Cup start at Daytona.
- Chase Elliott wrecked and finished 22nd
- Kasey Kahne, who at one point late led the race, also wrecked and finished 18th.
That left seven-time Cup champ Jimmie Johnson to carry the banner for HMS with a 12th-place finish.
Johnson is seventh in the Cup driver standings after Saturday’s race. He spoke about his finish and looking ahead to next Saturday’s race at Kentucky.
