In battle for first career Cup win at Pocono, Harvick falls short of Blaney (video)

Kevin Harvick looks back at how fortunate he was to not have his engine fail during the Pocono 400 and how he was hoping for a mistake from Ryan Blaney.

Kevin Harvick can relate to what Kyle Busch and the rest of Joe Gibbs Racing crew is going through.

Try as hard as he can, Harvick -- like Busch and the rest of JGR’s Cup corps -- the 2014 NASCAR Cup champ still has yet to win a race in 2017. Harvick’s last Cup win came at Kansas during last season’s playoffs, his fourth and final win of 2016. He’s gone 19 races since without a return visit to victory lane.

“I think there at the end, we just couldn’t get in the corner like we needed to all day, I couldn’t stop like I needed to,” Harvick said. “He could charge the corner, so I needed for him to make a mistake ... but never made a mistake, did a great job and wound up winning the race.”

Harvick wound up earning his third career runner-up finish at Pocono -- but remains in search of his first win at the Tricky Triangle.
