Pocono won’t treat track with VHT to add grip for this weekend’s races

Pocono Raceway officials confirmed to NASCAR Talk on Thursday that there are no plans to follow in the shoes of other tracks that have recently applied the VHT compound to add extra grip to the racetrack for this weekend’s Xfinity and NASCAR Cup races.

VHT has been applied to several tracks of late, including Charlotte Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, to enhance grip and create an additional groove of racing.

But Pocono officials believe the tricky triangle’s 2.5-mile layout doesn’t need any additional application to assist cars to gain additional grip, particularly in the turns.
