Aric Almirola wore a brace on his right wrist during practice Friday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Almirola told Fox Sports 1 Friday that the injury took place at home.

“I wish I had a cooler story,’' he said. “I tripped over my daughter’s scooter in the garage, and I hurt my wrist pretty bad. It hurts like hell. It will be OK. I get a week off next week.’'

NASCAR teams are off next weekend for Easter.

Almirola told FS1 before qualifying that he had ditched the brace because it wasn’t comfortable when he drove.

Almirola enters this weekend 17th in the points for Richard Petty Motorsports. His best finish this season is fourth in the Daytona 500. He has placed in the top 20 in each of the last four races.
