NASCAR America live 5:30 - 7 p.m. ET – Keselowski’s win, stage points importance

Today’s episode of NASCAR America airs from 5:30 – 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Carolyn Manno hosts from Stamford, Connecticut, along with Steve Letarte. Jeff Burton joins them from Burton’s Garage.

We have a big and busy show today. Among the topics:

* Our Marty Snider interviewed race winner Brad Keselowski and winning team owner Roger Penske after Sunday’s triumph in the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

* The NASCAR America crew analyzes the importance of stage points thus far this season.
* Chase Elliott remains in search of his first Cup win, but a 3rd-place finish on Sunday showed why he’s become the top driver at Hendrick Motorsports. We’ll talk about what has gone into his strong start to the season, including his quick mastery of the new stage format.

* How Paul Wolfe’s suspension deferment worked out so well for Team Penske, which has appealed the three-race and $65,000 penalty assessed against Wolfe after the Phoenix race two weeks ago. Wolfe sat out the California race, but was back atop Keselowski’s pit box this Sunday as he awaits the appeal.

* Kyle Busch was close (runner-up), but not close enough Sunday. He hasn’t won a NASCAR Cup race since last summer’s Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis. What’s going on with the 2015 Cup champ? Why can’t he reach victory lane?

* While Paul Wolfe’s return was a boon for Keselowski, Rodney Childers’ absence as Kevin Harvick’s crew chief definitely hurt the team. Childers served a one-race suspension Sunday after also being penalized for violations at Phoenix. Originally, Stewart-Haas Racing appealed the penalty, allowing Childers to oversee the No. 4 team at Fontana, but SHR then decided to drop the appeal last week, leading to Childers’ absence at Martinsville on Sunday.

* My Home Track: 50 States in 50 Shows rolls into Delaware. Known as “The First State,” Delaware has a rich racing history that includes the legendary Monster Mile in Dover, as well as Delaware International Speedway in Delmar.
