Dale Earnhardt Jr. remembers first Xfinity win ... and has the check to prove it

Dale Earnhardt Jr. loves to reminisce, especially about the good old days -- like the early days of his racing career.

He took to Twitter on Monday to post a copy of the earnings check from his first career win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from April 4, 1998, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Tuesday will mark the 19-year anniversary of that victory in the Coca-Cola 300, the first of what would be seven wins that season for the driver of the No. 3 Dale Earnhardt Inc.-owned Chevrolet and would culminate in the first of Earnhardt’s two Xfinity Series championships in 1998 and 1999.

Earnhardt started the Texas race 16th. He led six laps in the 200-lap event, overtaking Joe Nemechek on the final lap to earn the victory.

Earnhardt took home a check of $50,475.00, which was mailed to the old Dale Earnhardt Inc. headquarters just outside Mooresville, North Carolina.

Texas Motor Speedway also would be the track where Earnhardt earned his first NASCAR Cup win on April 2, 2000, edging current NASCAR On NBC analyst, Jeff Burton.
