Today’s Cup race at Auto Club Speedway: Start time, weather, TV/radio info

It will be about 30 degrees cooler today than it was last weekend in Phoenix but the action likely will be as intense. The last four years, the winning pass at Auto Club Speedway has been made with two laps or less. Will the streak continue today?

Here are the particulars for today’s race:

(All times are Eastern):

START: Actor Scott Eastwood from the move “The Fate of the Furious,” will give the command for drivers to start engines at 3:37 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 3:47 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 200 laps (400 miles) around the 2-mile oval.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Cup garage opens at 10 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 1:30 p.m. Driver introductions are at 3 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Skylar Stecker will perform the Anthem at 3:32 p.m. with two F-18s from VFA-14 Lemoore, California, providing the flyby.

TV/RADIO: Fox will broadcast the race at 3:30 p.m. with coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at mrn.com. MRN’s coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 67 degrees at race time with a 0 percent chance of rain at the start of the race.

LAST YEAR: Jimmie Johnson took the lead on the overtime restart to win. Kevin Harvick, who led 142 of the 205 laps, placed second. Denny Hamlin was third.
