Kyle Busch looked like he would win Sunday’s Camping World 500 at Phoenix Raceway.
But when Joey Logano’s right front tire blew out with six laps remaining in regulation, Busch pitted for two tires but left pit road in fifth place, including behind three drivers that stayed out instead of pitting -- including eventual race winner Ryan Newman.
Busch worked his way back up to third in the two overtime laps, but could go no further.
Still, it was a decent finish. In fact, it was Busch’s best finish of 2017, and his first top-five showing after finishing no better than 16th previously (Atlanta).
