Today’s Xfinity race at Phoenix: Start time, weather, TV/radio info

The NASCAR Xfinity Series continues its West Coast swing with a visit to Phoenix Raceway for today’s race. Kyle Busch won both races last year but is not eligible to race since this is a Dash 4 Cash event. Drivers with more than five years of Cup experience are not permitted to compete in such races.

Here are the particulars for today’s race:

START: Jeff Carpoff, president and CEO of DC Solar, will give the command for drivers to start engines at 4:07 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 200 laps (200 miles) around the 1-mile oval.

DASH 4 CASH: The top two eligible drivers in the race’s first stage qualify. The top two eligible drivers in the race’s second stage not yet qualified for the Dash 4 Cash also qualify. Those four drivers will race for the Dash 4 Cash $100,000 prize the rest of the race. Top finisher among those four wins the money.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Xfinity garage opens at 9:30 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 2:15 p.m. Driver introductions are at 3:30 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Kassi Jayde will perform the Anthem at 4:01 p.m.

TV/RADIO: Fox will broadcast the race at 4 p.m. Its coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at mrn.com. MRN’s coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 94 degrees at race time with a 0 percent chance of rain at the start of the race.

LAST YEAR: Kyle Busch led 190 of 200 laps to win last November. He was followed by Austin Dillon and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Busch led 175 of 200 laps to win last spring’s race. He was followed by Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez.
