It was a battle of the young guns in the second NASCAR Xfinity Series practice of the day on Friday at Phoenix Raceway.
Ryan Blaney was the only driver to exceed 131 mph, having a field-best speed of 131.277 mph over the one-mile oval in suburban Phoenix.
Erik Jones was second-fastest (130.690 mph), William Byron was third-fastest (130.686) for the second consecutive session, followed by defending Xfinity Series champ Daniel Suarez (130.600) and Matt Tifft (130.596).
The third and final Xfinity practice takes place tonight from 6 to 6:55 p.m. ET.
Only 37 cars took to the track for the second practice; there are 41 that are entered for Saturday’s DC Solar 200 race. That means one team will go home during qualifying earlier Saturday.
